Boosting Sports Partnerships to Promote Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark

As part of the ongoing efforts to harness the potential of sport to strengthen the national brand of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, a series of meetings was held among representatives of the Geopark, the Sports and Youth Directorate of the Qeshm Free Zone, and officials from several national sports federations.

The meetings explored opportunities for collaboration and strategic cooperation with the Tennis Federation, the Motorcycle and Automobile Federation, the Rowing Federation, the Rural Sports and Local Indigenous Games Federation, and the Touring and Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fields of motoring and touring vehicles.

The discussions centred on strengthening sports cooperation through specialised training camps and the organisation of national and international sporting events, showcasing Qeshm Island's exceptional natural landscapes and unique geotourism potential.

The development of sports tourism as an innovative approach to promoting the outstanding values and attractions of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark was among the key topics of the meetings. Particular attention was given to the island's strong potential to host training camps for sports teams, talent identification programmes, national and international tournaments, and competitions held within the Geopark's distinctive natural settings.
