The Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark announced that a specialized training course on the characteristics and importance of caves had been held.


The Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark announced that a specialized training course on the characteristics and importance of caves had been held.

According to Rostam Gurani, the course covered a range of topics, including an introduction to the characteristics and significance of caves, the history and objectives behind the designation of Iran’s National Clean Cave Day, an introduction to Namakdan Salt Dome and Namakdan caves and the role of women in safeguarding natural heritage, with particular emphasis on the values of Namakdan Cave and Chahkooh Canyon.

Rostam Gurani added that the initiative also encompasses the establishment of sustained, monthly training programmes centered on conservation and the local economy, specifically targeting women in rural communities. He further noted that the three-hour training course was attended by 30 women from Pishgam Chahoo Sharghi NGO, along with a number of students.
